This is a poster designed for the play "The Brecht Effect" presented at San Francisco State University Theatre Department. The play was written about the life of playwright Bertolt Brecht and the political persecution he faced.
I attempted to express this through the use of color, minimalist shapes and fonts, and an image of the "internal security act of 1950" covering the mouth of Brecht, representing his struggle to speak through his work while hindered by the cultural bias and the legal persecution he faced.

I attempted and refined many iterations to convey what the department was looking for to represent the messages of their play. Below is the final product which was on physical posters, digital advertisements, and printed programs.
